Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes are your necklaces and bracelets?
Unless stated otherwise, the standard necklace length is approx 16”. Gold plated or silver plated extender chains are available (if the type of clasp allows an extender) on request at no extra charge. Sterling silver extender chains are available for purchase at £2.50 each.
Bracelets are made to a length of approx 7 inches in length and the price includes an extender chain.
What are Freshwater pearls?
Freshwater pearls are pearls which have formed in the shells of freshwater mussels (found in ponds, lakes and rivers) rather than saltwater molluscs. The culturing of freshwater pearls has meant that pearls have become accessible to everyone as freshwater pearls are not as expensive as perfectly round saltwater pearls.
Freshwater pearls are generally off-white in colour (although colours vary between batches) and not uniform in shape. They are available in various shapes and sizes, including potato and rice shaped. Freshwater pearls have a beautiful lustre to them and their slightly uneven shape does not detract from their beauty.
What are Swarovski pearls?
Swarovski pearls are manmade pearls based on a crystal core. Their shape is uniform, coating is smooth and flawless and their colour consistent. Even the weight of Swarovski pearls is similar to real pearls. They are the best quality simulated pearl available and are much harder wearing and scratch resistant than other faux pearl available.
For bridal pieces, generally White or Cream Rose Light (ivory) Swarovski pearls are used, although Cream is also available on request.
What are Swarovski crystals?
Swarovski crystals are world renowned for their sparkle and brilliance. Swarovski crystals are manmade and contain 32% lead which maximises refraction and allows the crystal to withstand cutting and polishing to create facets - a process which is carried out mechanically with great precision. Chemical coatings are used to create the many different colors and finishes of crystals.
What is the difference between Crystal and Crystal AB?
Crystal - clear crystals are perfectly clear and have the appearance of glass with a subtle sparkle.
Crystal AB - Aurora Borealis (known as AB) coating is applied to clear crystal to create a super sparkly crystal which reflects colours in a rainbow effect.
What colour pearl should I choose?
White Swarovski pearls - white, off-white, diamond white, light ivory
Cream Rose Light Swarovski pearls - darker ivory
Cream Swarovski pearls - creamy/yellow shades
Freshwater pearls - being natural they seem to go with everything!
What metals do you use to finish your pieces?
I prefer to work with sterling silver when creating jewellery as I feel this gives the best finish. However, most jewellery pieces are also available in silver plated or gold plated where stated. Hair accessories are made with gold or silver plated metals.
What other materials do you use?
I have also used plenty of semi-precious stones in the past such as hematite, amethyst, tiger eye and turquoise to create bespoke pieces. Generally I only use Swarovski crystals and pearls, however sometimes I like to incorporate unusual shapes or colours and if this is the case it will be clearly stated in the product description if the bead is “glass” or “Czech” rather than Swarovski.
Are your hairbands comfortable?
Absolutely. All the bands I use are flexible so will not dig into your head like some rigid bands.
Do you have a brochure?
No, I don’t. Because new designs are being created all the time, a printed brochure would become out of date very quickly. I update the website frequently but you can often spot a bespoke item or a brand new design on my facebook page.
How can I check the status of my order?
You will be given a maximum turnaround time at the time of placing your order. However, at any time whilst your order is being made, please don’t hesitate to email me for an update. I will always send an email to you to confirm that your order has been posted.
